Art 2

Seventh grade students in this course will extend work begun in Art 1. They will study art concepts and will practice studio techniques and solve design problems using a variety of two and three dimensional art media. 

Students will attend this course daily for nine weeks and be graded on a Pass/Fail basis.

Project Samples

Non-objective Drawing
Students re-examined the five elements of design within one design.  Each area focused on one element.  Students were exposed to a variety of mixed media.

 

Papier Mache Masks
Students examined examples of African masks.  Once they had a feeling developed, they created their own 3-D mask.

 

Abstract Portraits
Students developed three abstract portraits that were fragmented down the middle.  Each face could be defined with geometric or angular profiles. The split-face images were similar to the style used by Picasso.
