Art 3

Eighth grade students in this course will extend work began in Art 2. Learning activities will focus on studio production, history, criticism, and aesthetic.  Students will learn art concepts and skills on a more sophisticated level. 

Students will elect to attend this course daily for eighteen weeks and be graded on letter grades

Project Samples

Rear View Mirror
Students developed a drawing of what they might see when they glanced into a rear view mirror.  A full range value study was studied prior to the application to this project.

 

Name Game
Students developed a design using letters from their name. Each letter was encased within a body shape resembling an interesting character.  It was suggested to vary the head shape, the position, and the expression of each letter character.  Every one was encouraged to study their work and exercise their visual judgment.

 

Watercolor painting

Students were introduced to eight different watercolor techniques. They were allowed to experiment with the paint. They learned how to develop a feeling for this light airy medium.  Once they had an understanding of the techniques, they were encouraged to apply them to their painting.
