History The school is located on the east side of Wichita in the College Hill and Lincoln Heights area. The three story building was completed in 1931 in the then popular Art Deco style and is enjoyed by all who enter its doors. The building has had several additions and renovations, one of which is the separate gymnasium, which was completed in 1976. Robinson Middle School, because of its age and location, is rich in tradition. The community is proud of Robinson Middle School and the achievements of the school’s graduates. Many of the students are the children and grandchildren of former Robinson students.
The community is a culturally aware community. They are patrons of the arts. Students are well versed in the arts when they arrive at Robinson. As a result, there is emphasis on the arts as well as on very high standards of academic performance. School personnel stress academics, and they have high expectations for all Robinson Middle School students. Robinson receives consistent 1 ratings at the vocal and instrumental music contests. The orchestra has been selected to perform for the Kansas Music Educators Association (KMEA) Convention and also at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. |
