Choir Grading
Policy

Daily Participation – 90 points per 9 weeks (10 points per week)

Points will be given daily to students who are present and on
time to class. School policies regarding absences and tardiness
will be enforced.

Also included in the participation grade is the attention paid
to the expectations I have set forth for you within the
classroom. Unwillingness to live up to these expectations and
the guidelines set forth in this handbook will be reflected in
the grade that you earn.

Concert Attendance – 60 points per concert

Attendance is required at all performances and dress rehearsals
-
Points will be based on proper dress, being on time, &
staying for the entire concert.

Excused absences are only those involving illness, death in the
family, or an emergency that you are unable to control. If any
of these things occur, your parent or guardian must contact me
about the circumstance before the performance, so that I
can properly assess your grade. Any other absence is
unexcused, and it cannot be made up. This will result in a
0% for that grade. If the absence is excused, you will
have 1 week to set up a time with me and I will have you sing
your part for me by yourself to assess that you have done “your
part” in our class time.

Journal/Music Theory/Other Written Assignments– 50 points per 9
weeks (5 assignments worth 10 points each)

At the start of each
class period, students are expected to enter the classroom and begin
their “bell work” for the day that will be posted on the board. A daily
journal will be kept to hold each assignment.
o
Throughout each 9 weeks
there will be 5 written assignments/projects that each student will have
to complete. These assignments will be set up to function as tools to
implement reading, writing, and math. These projects will range from
music theory exercises to concert evaluations.
