Choir Concert Rehearsal Guidelines

1.   Students must be in their assigned place on the risers or in their seat before the bell rings, or they will be considered tardy.

2.   All personal belongings (i.e. bookbags, purses, etc.) must be left in their appropriate place once the room is entered.

3.  Once entering the room, please begin to focus your attention on the tasks for the day.  Leave the outside stress and noise in the hall – you can pick it up after class.  Read the board to see what we will be doing.

4.  Once the bell rings, all talking should stop.  Because our time together is so short, we must use every minute to its fullest.

5.  Food, drinks, candy, and gum are NOT ALLOWED in the music room.  However, you may have a bottle of water.  This alleviates any need to go get a drink of water at the drinking fountain in the middle of class.  Bring a bottle of water to class everyday and you will not have any issues with this guideline.

6.  Trips to the bathroom will not be allowed during your time in this class.  Again, due to the short amount of time spent with me, too much valuable time can be wasted.  Use your passing periods wisely.  Please be reminded of this when coming to class.

7.  Respect the ability level and opinions of others.  Everyone in here is a valuable component of the choir because each one is different and unique.  When anyone is expressing a thought or asking a question, give them your full, undivided attention.  This is a win – win situation, because the same respect you show others will be shown to you as well.

8.  Talking, unless I ask you a question, am asking you feedback, or have called on you because you have raised your hand, is not allowed.  If your part is not singing, follow your part in the music and sing it silently.

9.  Respect the personal space of those around you.  I know the risers do not allow a lot of personal space, but do your best to give each other room.  This involves keeping your hands, arms, legs and feet to yourself throughout the rehearsal.

10. Sing with all of the focus and energy that you would have at a football game, concert, or any other event that you would really enjoy attending.  I guarantee that if you do, you will have a much more positive experience as a part of this choir!
