Nurse

Hello! My name is Tamra Hall
and I am the nurse at Robinson. Please feel free to contact me
with any concerns you may have related to your child’s health.
Medication
at School
Please note that school nurses follow special regulations in order to
safely and legally administer medication at school. Medication
(with the proper paperwork) will be administered to relieve pain that
may be a result of orthodontic work (braces) or in case of injury
(broken bone), or migraines. Medication will not be given to relieve
fever so that the child can remain in school. Fever is defined as
a temperature of 100.4 degrees F (regardless of method used to obtain
the temperature) or greater. Children should stay home
until they are fever free (without medication) for 24 hours. Sending
them to school sooner may slow their recovery as well as expose other
children to unnecessary illness. Please refer to the following
guidelines when sending medication to school for your child. Medication
not meeting these guidelines cannot be given.
Non
Prescription (over the counter) Medication
This includes Tylenol, cold tablets, Ibuprofen (Motrin), cough syrup,
etc. The parent's and the physician's signature and the original bottle
providing current and accurate information is required.
Short Term Prescription Medication
This includes medication that will be given for less than two weeks,
such as antibiotics, cough medication, etc. The parent's signature
and bottle with a pharmacy label with current and accurate information
is required. Physician's signature is not
required for a short term medication.
Long Term Prescription Medication
This includes medication that will
be given for more than two weeks such as asthma medication, seizure
medication, ADHD medication
and any PRN (as needed) medications that may be needed throughout the
school year. The parent's signature, medication bottle with a pharmacy
label with current and accurate information, and a physician signature
is required. (Ask your pharmacist to put the medication in 2 bottles,
one for school and one for home).
The Request
to Administer Medication at School forms are available in the main
office or you may obtain one from Mrs. Hall.
