Pre-IB
Fundamental Concepts
Learning to Learn (LTL)
This area is involved with the
development of effective study skills, referred to as “learning how to
learn.” LTL nurtures intellectual disciplines which will result in
critical, coherent, and independent thought.
Communication
Effective written and oral
expression is emphasized enabling the young person to integrate
successfully into society.
Intercultural Awareness
The PIB Program encourages an
international perspective by awakening in young people an interest in
the cultures and attitudes of people with different backgrounds from
their own.
Community Service
Students give back to the community
as they develop a deeper appreciation for society and a better
understanding of their roles in society. Requirements begin at 15 hours
per year in sixth grade and increase to 20 hours per year in seventh
grade and 25 hours in eighth grade.
Personal Project
Students focus their activities on
an annual project that develops research skills and individual
expression. Each year the personal project is expanded. |
